The 2nd International Firefly Symposium will be hosted by Malaysia in 2010. It will provide an opportunity for participants to learn of the latest findings and conservation efforts on fireflies from an international spectrum of researchers.

In conjunction with this Symposium in Malaysia, a pre-symposium training course will be conducted on “The Identification and Taxonomy of South East Asian Fireflies.” This course is an opportunity for graduate students and researchers from the South East Asian region to gain a foundation in the identification and taxonomy of fireflies.

The 2nd International Firefly Symposium 2010 coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and the 70th anniversary of the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), both of which are organisers of the symposium. It will be held in Selangor, a state in Malaysia where the heart of the firefly ecotourism lies.
